Texas is beautiful. Anyone who has visited a state park can attest.

State parks serve as sanctuaries for people who enjoy spending time outside. It was shocking to learn that that only .37% of Texas is currently dedicated to state parks — especially since our organizations know how important these places are to Texans. In addition to creating space for fun and adventure, access to nature has proven health benefits including reduced stress and improved mental health.

This year, Texas is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its state parks system. In honor of this milestone, Texans are voting on Proposition 14, a proposal to invest $1 billion into the growth of Texas’ state park system to protect it for generations.

This amendment will establish the Centennial Parks Conservation Fund, helping the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department create new state parks across Texas. This would create much-needed places for generations to come together and enjoy the benefits of exploring our natural world.

We see these community benefits play out daily, and we encourage everyone who loves Texas and its parks to vote “yes” on Proposition 14…
