The Texas Legislature is moving toward an investment of $1 billion to buy more land for state parks. This is the kind of hefty funding parks need.
Senate Bill 1648 and Senate Joint Resolution 74, authored by Sen. Tan Parker, R-Flower Mound, would create a Centennial Parks Conservation Fund, which would generate interest income and draw private and federal matching money to create new state parks.

Advocates are calling it a “historic” and “unprecedented” investment that could usher in a “golden age” of state parks.
